Such a vivid page… I love it! I loved reading your timed write and “You Are What You Eat”. I was cracking up the first time I read past the part where your mom cut through her electric knife. It reminded me first of my mother lighting her first Baked Alaska and the face she made as it burst into flame. I couldn’t have been more than 8 and I hadn’t thought of it in a while but that’s the beauty of reading… it takes your mind places you don’t expect.
ReplyDeleteThe second time I read it I recalled “helping” my dad trim the hedge on an especially rainy day. I was probably about 10 and he was supervising under cover of umbrella to make sure if (when) I cut off my finger, someone would call 9-11 immediately. Instead of my finger I cut through the extension cord as I turned around to ask super pop's if I was doing it right. Nope!
Your introductions for most of the pieces but especially the timed write was great and if anyone doesn’t know that feeling while opening a corrected assignment by now I don’t like them;-) Good work!
